Ondřej Belica is a Prague-based cinematographer known for his ability to balance stark realism with sophisticated visual stylization. He gained widespread recognition as the Director of Photography for the acclaimed true-crime series Metoda Markovič: Hojer, for which he won the Best TV Series Cinematography award from the Czech Society of Cinematographers (AČK) and received a Czech Lion nomination in 2024. His collaboration on the franchise continues with the highly anticipated second season, Metoda Markovič: Straka (2026).
Beyond traditional cinema, Belica frequently extends his visual practice into the world of multidisciplinary art, collaborating on diverse audiovisual projects such as Terezín: Study for Strings and stage projections for theatre. His international portfolio includes the award-winning feature Suntali (Nepal Critics’ Award) and the feature documentary Central Bus Station (AČK Best Documentary 2020).
In addition to his creative work, he holds a PhD from FAMU, where his research focused on visual perception in low-light environments. Since 2010, he has been a dedicated member of the Czech Society of Cinematographers (AČK) and currently serves as its vice-president.
